Subject: [SFI-l] 2013 STARFLEET Election Results
To: election2013 lists.sfi.org>, The Official STARFLEET
Business Discussion List lists.sfi.org>, firstname.lastname@example.org,
Good morning, STARFLEET. I informed the candidates of the election results
a short time ago, and now those results can be announced to the general
By what may be the smallest margin in STARFLEET history, Wayne Killough and
Reed Bates have been elected the next Commander and Vice Commander of
The final results:
702 votes (50.5%)
683 votes (49.1%)
4 votes (.003%)
1 vote (.001%)
In total, 1,390 ballots were received and certified by our attorney, Robert
Williams, Esq. Of those received, four ballots indicated a choice not to
vote for either candidate, and one ballot was damaged during delivery and
declared invalid due to a missing control code (every ballot was stamped
with a control code to verify that each member voted only once).
Thus, by the authority given to me as Election Coordinator, I declare the
2013 Commander, STARFLEET election to be officially completed. The current
Commander, STARFLEET and his EC team will begin making arrangements to
transfer all materials connected with their offices to the new CS, Wayne
Killough, and his team.
I'd like to thank our Inspector General, Jeff Victor, for his tireless work
on this election. In addition to his duties as IG, Jeff took point on
mailing out thousands of election packets, sacrificing hours of his time
and saving STARFLEET a lot of money. Personally, I could not have had a
better partner with which to traverse this election cycle. I'd also like to
thank Mike Dugas and Greg Trotter for their work as election list
moderators, the AB for their guidance, and the EC for their support (and
also for listening to me whine). Thank you also to all the STARFLEET
members who participated in election discussions and cast their ballots.
Most of all, I would like to thank Wayne and Les for stepping up to
volunteer for STARFLEET and running clean, friendly, issue-oriented
campaigns. Thanks also to Rich Jolitz, Pete Lutz, Michael Timko, and Chris
Bayonet, who threw their hats into the ring early on. There were a few
moments there, after the election list went live and no one rushed to
announce their candidacy, that we wondered what would happen if we threw a
STARFLEET election, and no one showed up to run! My thanks to all the
candidates and their teams for everything they put into this election.
In service to STARFLEET and its members,
COMM Liz Woolf

ATTENTION Region 3 and Zone 4, especially.
Who all is coming to Austin for Wizard World's Austin Comic Con? It's this
weekend, starting Friday, Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. and goes through Sunday, Nov.
24 at around 5p.
Give us a shout out if you're going.
Don't forget to come by STARFLEET's table, hosted by the Ark Angel Station.
Also visit the USS Joan of Arc's table and the USS Zavala's table, as these
Zone 3 chapters will be represented. (Where will we be, you ask? At this
time, most of the fan groups will be in the hallway; however, they are
going to move us inside if there is room or if someone cancels, so we may
be scattered througout the space.)
link to info and tickets:
*Region 3 Gets Together*: Many of us are meeting at the Cedar Door
(whether permitting) on Saturday night after the convention closes up for
the night, approximately 7:30 p.m. to be there. If it's raining or too
cold, we may move locations, but it is walking distance from the convention
center and reasonably priced for food and beverages.
We hope to see you there!
